The San Diego County Sheriffs Department (SDSD) is the primary law enforcement agency for the unincorporated areas of San Diego County, California. The SDSD also provides law enforcement services to several cities within the county, including Santee, Lemon Grove, and Poway.

How to Request a Copy of a Crime Arrest or Accident Report

To request a copy of a crime arrest or accident report from the SDSD, you can do so in person, by mail, or online. Note that completing an online request can take 10-15 minutes.

In Person

To request a copy of a report in person, you can visit the SDSD Records Division at 9425 Chesapeake Drive, San Diego, CA 92123. The Records Division is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

By Mail

To request a copy of a report by mail, you can send a written request to the SDSD Records Division at the address listed above. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number, and email address in your request. You must also include a check or money order for the applicable fee. The fee for a copy of a crime arrest report is $10, and the fee for a copy of an accident report is $15.

Online

To request a copy of a report online, you can visit the SDSD website at https://www.sdsheriff.net/records/records-request. Click on the "Request Records" button, and then select "Crime Reports" or "Traffic Accident Reports" from the drop-down menu.

Follow the instructions on the website to complete your request. You will need to provide your name, address, phone number, and email address. You will also need to include the date, time, and location of the incident.

Once you have submitted your request, you will receive a confirmation email. The SDSD will process your request and send you a copy of the report by mail or email within 10 business days.
