An Explosion at a Jose Cuervo Tequila Distillery in Mexico on Tuesday Sparked a Fire and Killed Six

An explosion occurred at the Jose Cuervo tequila plant in central Mexico killing six company workers and forcing an evacuation.

A fire is burning following an explosion at a Jose Cuervo tequila plant in Tequila Jalisco state Mexico. The explosion occurred on Tuesday July 23 2024 at approximately 6:30 p.m. local time. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

The fire is currently under control and there are no reports of any injuries. However the explosion has caused extensive damage to the plant and production has been halted.

Jose Cuervo is one of the largest tequila producers in the world. The company has been in operation since 1795 and produces a variety of tequila brands including Jose Cuervo Especial Jose Cuervo Gold and Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia.

The explosion and fire at the Jose Cuervo plant is a major setback for the company. It is unclear how long it will take for the plant to be repaired and production to resume.
